EU, DEBATE, LANGUAGES, ENVIRONMENT
Hello! I’m Dora Smilevska, 18, and I’m from the capital of North Macedonia. My city offers plenty of opportunities for activists, so, in addition to being a high school student, I am always on the search for interesting workshops or events that I can volunteer with. My biggest passions are reading and writing, from which stems my love for languages. At the moment, I speak English and German, but I’m also learning Norwegian. Learning new languages is a significant factor in my ability to communicate better with others – especially with regard to international projects. I’ve participated in three youth exchange programs in Romania, Denmark, and Bulgaria as well as a course and conference in Germany. I’ve participated in workshops on emotional intelligence, entrepreneurship programs for young people, national championship debates, as well as volunteering at events. Participating as a debater in my country’s ‘Youth Education Forum’ has helped me build my confidence in public speaking, and given me the ability to always consider arguments from differing perspectives. All in all, the experiences I’ve gained since I began joining local NGOs has made me realize who I would like to be in life: a communicative person who is always conscious of other people’s problems, and a rational individual who contributes to their solutions.
