Biography

My name is Ilija Marković. I’m 25, and a master’s student in English Language and Literature Studies, and Philosophy (a licensed teacher-to-be). I come from Matići – a village belonging to the small municipality of Orašje, Bosnia, and Herzegovina. My set of skills includes: teaching English as a foreign language; teaching philosophy, logic, and ethics; writing projects; theatre acting; critical thinking; MS Office; and public speaking. I perceive myself as an open-minded and tolerant individual, and I’m always open to new experiences – indeed, I am also unafraid of creating changes within my community. My passion is to build bridges between different individuals and to fight issues that are deeply rooted within our society. One of my favorite experiences with regard to this type of activism is participating in the creation of a theatre play (“Nora u zemlji čudesa”), which dealt with themes such as domestic violence, feminism, and homophobia.
