Biography

Hello, I am Amina and I come from Prishtina, Kosovo. When I am not busy studying to become a neurosurgeon, I write poetry that mostly revolves around the themes of human rights, domestic abuse, climate change, and, if I’m in the mood, love. In addition to writing poetry, I also love performing it, often in the form of Slam Poetry – even organising my own event and mentoring it. I also draw, paint, debate, play volleyball, swim, and most importantly, volunteer and participate in every project I can, including working with organizations such as OSCE, USAID, YIHR, and many others. I am president of USAID’s Youth Advisory Board, ex vice-president and president of her high school’s USAID Career Club, was once an integral part of the Youth Assembly of Prishtina and Young Ambassador of Prishtina, and am currently waiting to proceed with mentorship work for Mentorship4Youth. In total, all of this amounts to more than 300 hours of volunteer work. The quote I live by is, “In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take,” which is why I use every given opportunity to meet new people, socialize, and leave a positive trace in the world. As I always say, “There is no better place than here, and there is certainly no better time than now. So, let’s start.”
