2020-2021

A better future for young people of the Western Balkans

The European Union supports numerous initiatives that aim to improve the lives and future opportunities of young people in the Western Balkans. In cooperation with Western Balkan partners, the EU invests in the future of youth through programmes covering many areas, such as education, training and sport, entrepreneurship, culture and creativity, and research and innovation.

In your region, with your region

Across the Western Balkans, youth face many challenges, not least high levels of unemployment and lack of decent jobs, as well as risk of social exclusion and discrimination of vulnerable groups. That’s why the EU encourages young people in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia to take advantage of opportunities offered by programmes such as Erasmus+, COSME, Creative Europe and Horizon 2020 – to build up their skills, contribute to the positive growth of their region, and strengthen ties with the EU.
